Collective Shrugs For Departing Scrubs

Add Earl Boykins to the list of marginal players who are bailing on the NBA for better contract offers overseas, joining such fan favorites as Carlos Arroyo, Bostjan Nachbar, Nenad Krstic, Carlos Delfino, Josh Childress and Juan Carlos Navarro.

When Josh Childress is the biggest name on any list, you know it's a non-issue.

Here's a picture of Shaq preparing to EAT Earl Boykins.

'C'mere, Lil' Boykins. Get into my belly!'

That's a GREAT picture.

I'll agree with you -- I wouldn't be too alarmed about the marginal players the NBA has lost thus far. I also know the Wade, Lebron, & Kobe rumors are nothing but "filler" stories during the quietest period of the year for the NBA. I do think some bigger names will make overseas moves in the next few years, though it probably won't be the superstars. I'm thinking it will be the Antawn Jamison/Corey Maggette level players.

I agree that WAY too big of a fuss is being made about these certain players leaving for greener pastures overseas. I really don't think it would have got much media coverage had USA citizen Josh Childress not jumped ship.

I don't think the Maggette/Jamison type players would leave because those type of players are cashing in here for $12.5 and $10 million a season for the next 4-6 years.

I'm just referring to the caliber of players who could go overseas, be the biggest star in their new country, and get paid slightly more. If they would be willing to pay Lebron $50M/per, they might be willing to pay Maggette, $15M/year or more. Plus, I've heard talk that the salary figure is what they would actually walk home with in some of those countries (i.e. the team would pay the taxes for you and you and the $15, or $50M, would be your AFTER-tax earnings).

I wish Marbury would go NOW.
